My Epiphone Casino is an Epiphone Casino. but they are still Epiphone branded instruments. So, if we're reading books on Gibson and Epiphone, the books would lately read - Epiphone guitars are made in Japan, Korea, Indonesia, etc. Supposedly the quality of those hybrid guitars equal or surpass Gibson. (Or Epiphone anything.) The exception may be the Elitist which has been reported on this thread as being assembled in the USA with neck/body assembly being produced in Japan and shipped here. I don't know of any current Epiphone Casinos made in USA. An attempt at humor which I thought everybody would get. I tried to make a funny by saying that Casinos made at that factory were better than Casinos made at other offshore factories. I thought that qualified as valuable information (to me, as an owner of one of these - possibly even some 'lore' that surrounds that instrument.)

It was apparently made at the Unsong factory, judging from the factory code list posted earlier. My 2005 Epiphone Casino is IMHO a high quality instrument made in Korea. I feel I have misled and perhaps offended. I do think it's cool that my guitar was manufactured in a land where elephants live though! And Indonesia certainly has a woodworking tradition that goes way, way back. In other words, I'm more interested in Gibson and Epiphone than Samick, who just set their machines to _ specs. The Les Paul is an American guitar with a specifically American history, no matter where it's made nowadays. It's the design that counts, and the name.

This is just me, but what makes me feel good about my Les Paul is sitting down and reading a book about the Gibson and the Epiphone companies. wherever) is rightly shot down as snobbery.
